Ant Invasion

One of the joys of living in a warm climate is you get to share your home with all kinds of four and sometimes more legged creatures. Wednesday morning we woke up to one of the biggest gatherings we have had. The most frustrating part is that we just had our apartment sprayed last week while we were on vacation. We found the ants consuming my favorite cookies in the cupboard--the pink frosting sugar cookies from the bakery. I can't blame the little guys I can't stay away from them either-they are my favorite. I think I am most upset that they got to eat more of them than me and I am sure they will not be bringing me anymore anytime soon. Dirty little ants.

Cheers to 3rd Years!

Sunday evening we decided to invite Morris's classmates over for a toast(Martinelle's of course). Morris had to go back to school on Monday-boo, so we felt like we should all get together to start this year off right. We toasted to a much better than the second year of dental school. I love to host so I look for any excuse to have people over. We have made such great friends here--I love it when we can all get together and talk about things other than school. Highlight of the evening was when I shot whip cream all over myself and the kitchen. Good times.

Sweet Sweet Mexico

Morris and I recently returned from a much needed vacation to Mexico. We spent six days in Puerto Vallarta. Morris and I decided we needed a vacation after the year we had just been through. Morris finished his boards in July and we decided we needed a vacation to celebrate. We stayed at a resort on the North side of Puerto Vallarta called Grand Velas. It was so nice. We were so sad when we had to go home--six days was not long enough. We spent most of our time poolside enjoying the rays and pina colada's. Morris actually consumed 34 of them in 6 days.
He took full advantage of all-inclusive. We had wonderful meals and excellent service. They must have thought we actually could afford to be there. We did leave the resort one day for a canopy tour. We went up to the Sierra Madres and rode mules to the top of the mountains then we took the zip lines through the jungle down to the bottom. We drove home through downtown and this was the only glimpse I had of real Mexico--and I am completely fine with only having seen that much. We had an excellent time.

Park City in a Flash

Morris and I headed up to Park City, UT for a few days. Well Morris stayed for a while to spend some time with his family but I was only there for two days. Morris's dad had a confrence in Park City so we decided we should all stay the weekend there to keep him company. I wanted to stay in Park City because I was really looking forward to hitting up the outlet mall. It had been along time since I was able to vist the Banana Outlet. I was a little disappointed in the selection of clothing but no worries the trip was still a success. We spent one afternoon at Park City resort and rode the alpine slide and the new coaster. We had such a good time. It is always so nice to come home and spend time with family.

Love is in the Air

Congratulations to Jennie and Spencer! Jennie is a very close friend from college, we both studied Interior Design. She and Spencer have known each other since grade school and I think they are a fantastic couple. They were married in Las Vegas the second week of September. The wedding was so beautiful and such a great time. The best part was getting to spend time with my girlfriends. We think back about all of the good times we shared as roommates and the next fun trip we are going to take together.

A Little Late on Labor Day

It is hard to believe September is almost over. Morris and I have had a very busy September. My next few posts make up our September of Craziness. Labor Day weekend Morris's best friend Sam came to stay with us. After our weekend full of football I decided we needed to spend Labor Day at the beach. Morris and Sam went to the sporting goods store in the morning and purchased some beach gear among other things. We spent much of the day basking in the sun and enjoying a day of no labors. Yeah to Labor Day!

Eventful Morning

This morning I had to go to court for my work. We let an employee go in April because of unsatisfactory performance. Since April this employee has gone to every labor department and employment department in the state hoping someone would listen to his pathetic claim. Part of my job is to find the information to back up my employers claim against the ex-employee and appear in court on my employers behalf. Today was the third time I have had to do this. But this morning it was kind of a special treat because our ex-employee completely freaked out. He was yelling at the top of his lungs and threatening myself and my employer. I knew this guy was crazy but I had no idea he was this insane. After being locked in a room for nearly an hour waiting for the police to contain him in the court room. The best part of my day was seeing him locked up in the back of the police car as I drove away. I received a phone call from one of the officers this afternoon telling me that he has been taken in for psychiatric evalutation and will be locked up for the at least the next 72 hours. And I have a restraining order on him and he comes near me he gets even longer in the slammer.

5 Guys + 1 Girl + Rose Bowl

1 guy not pictured. On Saturday went to go see the UCLA vs. UofU football game at the Rose Bowl. Morris has been anticipating the college football season to start since the last game of last season. My weekend was full of football and boys. Morris's dad, 2 brothers in law and best friend all came down to watch the game. Morris and I were the only ones dressed in blue. Thank goodness the Bruins pulled off the W.

Pageant of the Masters

Last Monday we went down to Laguna Beach to see pageant of the Masters. My boss had some extra tickets so she offered them to Morris and I. It was so Amazing! I love going to museums and art exhibits so I don't feel like my creative brain is completely rotting away. It is so amazing to see these beautiful works of art brought to life with real people. Each year they select a new theme of paintings to display. This year the theme was romance and it was wonderful. It was really neat to hear the artists story behind each work of art and to see it brought to life. The most exciting part for me was to see some of my favorites by Van Gogh and many pieces I had seen at the Met in April. What a good time. Hopefully we will get invited to tag along again next summer.
