Happy Birthday Zachary

Tonight Morris and I went to the Los Angeles Temple to celebrate Zachary's birthday. Today Zachary would have turned one. My family decided we would all celebrate Zachary birthday by doing a temple session. It was such a wonderful experience to be in the temple today and to spend some time thinking about the work Zachary is accomplishing in heaven. We love you Zachie. Happy Birthday.

P.S. Sorry about the tennis shoes. Morris forgot to bring dress shoes with him today when he left for school.

Burger Weekend

Our friends Jamie and Bryce Burger were in town this weekend. We did our best to show them a good time during there short visit. We spent Saturday at Six Flags and Sunday touring Hollywood. We drove around Beverly Hills in the morning to see some celeb homes--we drove by the Playboy mansion hoping to see some bunnies but no luck. We also drove by homes previously owned by Walt Disney and Elvis Presley-my fav. After our home tour we headed to Hollywood Blvd. with all of the crazies, and they were out in full force. We walked the Hollywood stars and saw the Kodak and Chinese theaters. We met up with Nicole and Chad at Griffith Observatory. Morris and I had been wanting to check it out as it has been closed since we moved here. It was really neat to see all of the space exhibits and amazing views of this great big city. Of course no trip to LA would be complete without a trip to Tito's Tacos. So Saturday we ended up the day with Tito's and some game playing at our place. It was so fun to have Jamie and Bryce in town. We had such a great time with them. We hope we will be able to get together again and have more fun weekends like we did this week.

Morris turns 27!

On Saturday my hubby turned 27! He thinks it sounds very old. But I don't think he looks a day over 26. We celebrated his birthday with our friends the Burgers. We went to Six Flags-again. Morris being the champ he is said he would sacrifice his b-day to show our friends a good time while they were here from Montana. It was a cold rainy day at Magic Mountain but we stuck it out and had a good time on the rides. We stopped in to see a magic show in between coasters, the magic show was not that fantastic but at least it was dry. After we conquered the park we stopped and had a celebration dinner at PF Changs. Then home for cake with ice cream. While we are on the subject of Morris I will share with you a few interesting facts about this great guy you may not know.
1. He is the only boy in a family of seven.
2. He taught himself how to play lacrosse his freshman year of college and was captain of the BYU lacrosse team his senior year.
3. His first job will be as a orthodontist.
4. His t-shirts are all folded better than those at a department store.
5. He had four girls waiting for him to get home from his mission.
6. He attends UCLA but roots for their rivals the USC Trojans.
7. He once ran away from home and stayed the night in the dog kennel.
8. He loves root beer--Henry Weinhard's.
9. He dreams about eating taco arabes from Mexico everyday.
10. He listens to NPR every morning on his way to school.
I love you babe!

For Work?

Yesterday for work I went to go see the movie "Freedom Writers". For those of you who are thinking wow she must have a great job. You are right, I do have a great job. Everyday is a new adventure with new tasks to tackle. And yesterday's task was to take my boss's daughter to see FW. I was kind of excited because I did want to see this movie; and what is better than being paid while having a movie and snacks paid for? I am still not sure how I feel about the movie. I was so worried the whole time about whether or not it was too mature for my boss's daughter and if she should really be hearing the language being used in the film. Needless to say I missed much of the show because I was answering phone calls from my boss and arranging pick up of boss's daughters friend. What I did see of the film I give a B-.

All Six Flags

On Saturday Morris and I spent the day at Six Flags Magic Mountain with my former roomie Michelle and her husband Matt. We were so pumped to go to Six Flags and ride the greatest coaster of all time--X. We were very disappointed to arrive at the park to find out that X is still closed. Luckily we purchased season passes so we will be able to ride X once it opens this summer. After riding as many coasters as we could handle Michelle and I decided it was time to do some shopping. We went to the Beverly Center to check out H&M. A first time for Michelle. As always H&M did not disappoint. After the Beverly Center we met up with our husbands and some other friends for dinner. It was so fun to have Matt and Michelle in town, we love company. We can't wait for Jamie and Bryce to come next week when we do the same thing all over again at Six Flags.

Dinner with the Lee's

Last night we went to dinner with some school friends the Lee's. We had planned to go to dinner months ago when the boys finished there Board exams but we never got around to it. The Lee's introduced us to a Mexican joint near our house. The food was great. Morris ordered some unusual dish like he always does when we are dining at a Mexican restaurant. He claims they are good, I just take his word for it. After dinner we decided to play a game of Mexican Train domino's to keep with the theme of the evening. It was a great night of food and friends.

Golden Globe Mayhem

Yesterday the Golden Globes were in town. I went out on some errands as usual during the day but instantly became frustrated when every major road was blocked off and I could not get anywhere. The streets were lined with security, limousines, and spectators. It took me forever to get anywhere. Thanks for letting me vent for a moment.

Too Cold for the Oranges

It has been so cold here. Well it has been in the 50's but by California standards it is freezing. It has been so cold the news has been reporting that all of the citrus groves are freezing and there will be no crop next year. I am getting a little worried because oranges and avocados are staples in my diet. Hopefully it warms up before we all freeze.

Packing Up and Moving Out

My sister and her husband are moving to Vegas from California. This move is not good news for Morris and I. We have become really close to my sister and her family. We adore her kids. We have enjoyed many trips to Disneyland together and have loved having a home to go to for long weekends and holidays. We will miss them so much. Last weekend Morris and I took the two older kids to Disneyland and then had a sleepover at our house so they could get some packing done at the house. We ordered pizza, watched movies and ate ice cream. This weekend we went out to paint a bathroom to help get the house on the market. Well Morris painted the bathroom and I chatted with my sissy while we attempted to pack up the kitchen. Bye sister, we will miss you.

2 Down 13 to GO

I met Morris for lunch on campus today. We went to the bookstore after lunch to look at fun stuff to spend his gift card from a patient on. We decided he needed a new backpack--one of the only items you can not buy with a gift card. So that meant we needed to buy me something. I found a fun new book I had to have. I have been into collecting travel guides lately and planning all kinds of elaborate trips we will take once we graduate. So I thought I should add Museums of Los Angeles to the collection. After and hour I had already dog eared 13 must sees and about 25 if we have a free Saturday. Until we can go on all of the fun trips I have already planned for post graduation we are going to get busy seeing all of LA.

In the Chair

Today I visited the UCLA Dental Clinic and had Dr. Poole clean my teeth. Morris has tried to schedule me for cleaning for months now and today it finally happened. Morris has told me I am one of his more difficult patients and the truth is he is not my favorite dentist. I actually don't love being in the dentist chair whoever the dentist is. I think the combination of me feeling like he should not inflict any pain on me because I am his wife and the fact the he thinks I need to be the guinea pig does not work out to well. At least Dr. Poole doesn't need to be near my mouth with a plaque scraper thing for another 6 months is a great feeling.

Welcome 2007

Our New Years was fairly uneventful. We were feeling rather unspirited much of the day but the closer it got to midnight the more guilty I started feeling that I was not doing anything to ring in the new year. Morris and I decided to head down to the big bash at his cousins house to celebrate with the family. Our celebration came complete with dancing, sparkling cider toasts and great laughs. Morris and I were disappointed to find out we had showed up and just missed the philosophy hour hosted by Uncle Gene. I know you are thinking how could we miss philosophy hour? Well we actually do not have enough PHd's to be invited to the study but not sure we really want to be anyway.

New Cut and Stache

On New Years Eve I went to a salon in Logan to finally get a hair cut. I decided that a year and a half was entirely to long to go without a cut. The salon was very nice and the prices were very fair so I thought I would give it a shot. I am not in love with the color but I can deal with that. The real problem is the stache--yes sadly I guess I have to admit it now, I wax my upper lip. I have never had a problem doing this until now. Well to make a long story short, the stylist burned the flesh off of my upper lip and left me with two beautiful scabs below my nose, just in time for the New Year's parties. It was great!

Talane's Wedding

Talane and Derek were married on the 22nd in Mesa and had a reception in Declo, Idaho (Derek's hometown) on the 29th. Morris and I headed to this one horse town for the evening to see some of my good friends from high school and to give our wedding wishes to the happy couple. It was so nice to see my good friends and there adorable little newborns. Congratulations Talane and Derek!

A Very Merry Christmas

I know, I know Christmas was so last year but I still wanted to write about our Christmas. For Christmas this year we headed up to McCall with my family. McCall is about two hours north of Boise and it was loaded with snow. It was so wonderful getting to play in the snow and truly spending Christmas the way it should be spent. We stayed in a condo with a great view of Payette Lake. We watched movies, did jigsaw puzzles, and snuggled up with our loved ones by the fire. On Christmas day we went sledding for a few hours. The snow was coming down and we had a great time coming up with a new way to go down the hill each time.
